A house renovation (new deck and French doors) preceded the development of a lower courtyard. An existing cherry tree and Silver birches provided a mature framework around which the design was established. A water feature acts as a focal point for views from inside the kitchen, the deck and up from the courtyard. Controlled planting along wires on the courtyard walls provide a strong design element in winter and this is softened by lush roses overlaid in summer. Other planting such as viburnum, hybrid clematis and iris add to the romantic theme.  The globe shapes of the water feature are repeated by a pottery ball sitting on café style table and chairs and Viburnum “Snowball”.
